Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a natural healing method which originated in China several thousand years ago. It was brought to the United States is the 1970’s and has steadily grown in use and popularity since then. Today, acupuncture is widely accepted as an effective treatment for pain, and numerous other conditions. We offer a very unique method of acupuncture which combines eastern principles of traditional Chinese acupuncture with advanced western technology of pulsed electrical microcurrent and laser stimulation. This allows patients who fear needles to benefit from acupuncture therapy.

We begin each acupuncture session with a painless “Acugraph” test that measures the bio-electrical activity in the 12 primary acupuncture meridians. It shows us exactly where your acupuncture energies are not functioning well. By gathering that information, we know if you require treatment and what points are indicated to help you. We also compare test results from visit to visit to be sure you are responding well to care. Acugraph testing helps us discover, and treat what may have been missed in other treatments.

Traditional acupuncture involves the placement of small needles to specific points throughout the body. The most important acupuncture points are located between the elbows and hands, and between the knees and feet. This process is typically painless and treatment takes between 30-45 minutes. Patients find acupuncture is also excellent for stress management.

Another special form of acupuncture has been developed that uses points on the ear to very effectively relieve pain in approximately 80% of patients. This is known as Battlefield Acupuncture and is used on military personnel. Relief is achieved within a few minutes and can have prolonged effects. We utilize the Battlefield technique to help patients who are in moderate to severe pain get relief. It’s a fast and easy way to feel better and avoid drugs and long waits in walk-in clinics or emergency rooms.
